Does it seem like you keep attracting into your life everything that you don't like or want? Are you desiring to find out why other people are successful and you are not? Do you only see the problems and not the solutions?

I have heard many people state something like, my life sucks, how are you getting your life to go so well?

Well, their question answered itself. For what we communicate with ourselves, we attract. Repeatedly, it has been said stated for at least the last 2 centuries that what we focus on we attract. Actually even longer than that, as I was reading a story written in the 1600's about the very same idea, and when the author understood this principle his life literally went from rags to riches.

As long as you focus on and communicate to yourself what you don't want, like or need that is exactly what you are going to bring more of in your life. This ties in with quantum physics and the endless possibilities we have before us.

Many of these people will then say, how can I not focus on all of the problems in my life when I have to deal with them. I tell them three things:

One start noticing what is right in your life. I find that most people have many blessings that they tend to forget about when they focus on the problems. Start writing a gratitude journal (it is considered one of the success secrets in the world) Each day write in at least five things you are grateful for. It could be as simple as being able to get up, being alive to try again, having food to eat, a job to go to or maybe having family. It doesn't have to be elaborate, just start.

Second, stop calling them problems, call them challenges. Your mind doesn't like problems but sees challenges as something that has a solution that can be found.

Third, don't focus on the problem (challenge) focus on the solution. An example I am thinking of comes from a cartoon my grandson was watching.

This duck went to visit his friend a robin. Along the path there was a big boulder. Quack (the duck) said oh no, I will never be able to visit my friend again. (condensed version) and turned around and went home.
Chirp (the robin) came down the path to look for Quack, as he had not shown up. He too saw the boulder, looked at the situation and went around it. When he found Quack, he asked what happened. Quack said, there is a boulder on the path, I will never be able to visit you again!
Chirp said but I got around it. Quack said that it probably blocks only one way then.

Too often, even though we see others over come the same challenge, many will rationalize and say oh, they just got luck or their circumstances are different instead of solving the challenge.

In the end Chirp showed Quack that he was focusing on the problem (boulder) instead of the solution (go around).

So, what are you telling yourself? What are you focusing on?

All the Best!
